5 Boudoir Outfit Trends Taking Over Chicago in 2026 (That Aren’t Just Lingerie)

Chicago boudoir outfit ideas

When most women think of a boudoir session at my Suburban Chicago Boudoir Studio, they often imagine a standard black lace teddy. While a classic bodysuit is timeless, 2026 is all about personal storytelling.

Whether you are traveling from Naperville, Hinsdale, or Downtown Chicago, etc your wardrobe should reflect your version of sexy. Here are the five trends I’m seeing define the "Amélie Aesthetic" this year. (P.S. Be sure to download and/or view the free guide at the bottom of this article.)

1. The "Borrowed from Him" Button-Down

There is something undeniably sexy and chic about a crisp, white oversized men’s shirt. It’s a favorite for our Chicagoland brides creating a "Little Black Book" gift. It offers just enough coverage to feel secure while highlighting your legs and collarbone.

  • Pro-Tip: Bring his favorite dress shirt or a soft flannel for a fun vibe.

2. High-Fashion Editorial Blazers

The "Boss Babe" energy is thriving in Chicago. A structured blazer worn with nothing underneath (or just a hint of a balconette bra) creates a powerful, high-end editorial look. It’s sophisticated, modern, and looks incredible in black and white.

3. Luxury Knitwear (aka "Cozy-Chic")

Ideal for North Shore Winters. Think chunky, off-the-shoulder sweaters paired with delicate lace panties. This trend is perfect for clients who want a softer, more approachable feel to their portraits. It’s less about "performance" and more about quiet, intimate moments.

4. Statement Bodysuits with Texture

Move over, plain spandex. This year is all about texture. I’m seeing a rise in velvet, pearl-encrusted tulle, and intricate embroidery in bridal onesies and bodysuits.

  • Local Shopping: If you're looking for something unique before your shoot, I always recommend checking out the curated collections at boutiques like gigi BOTTEGA or Stacy’s Lingerie in the surrounding suburbs. Of course, Nordstrom, Amazon, and Skims are always good bets, too!

5. The "Fine Art" Sheer Robe

At staple at The Amélie Boudoir Studio. Nothing captures the light in my studio quite like a floor-length sheer robe with marabou trim or silk detailing. It adds movement to your photos and creates a dreamy, ethereal "Fine French" atmosphere that is the hallmark of the Amélie Boudoir experience.

Ready to Plan Your Wardrobe?

At Amélie Boudoir, you don’t have to figure this out alone. Every session includes a pre-shoot wardrobe consultation. We can discuss your style, your comfort level, and how to choose pieces that celebrate your body exactly as it is today.
